Male Breast Reduction/Gynecomastia
About The Surgery
Description
Male Breast Reduction(Gynecomastia)
Gynecomastia is a condition seen in men, both young and old. The underlying condition of abnormal breast growth in men is often caused by hormonal changes during puberty or later in life.
Medical conditions, as well as body building steroid or marijuana use, can also cause gynecomastia. A medical evaluation is indicated in cases of new onset gynecomastia.
Gynecomastia present for 2 years is generally regarded as permanent and should be treated surgically. The surgical treatment may vary from ultrasonic lipoplasty (see Liposuction/Ultrasonic Lipoplasty under BODY) to more conventional anchor-scar breast reduction surgery for gynecomastia, depending on the degree of severity and the quality of the skin elasticity.
Gynecomastia can cause self-conscious behavior. Boys often avoid physical education and other fitness and social activities. Gynecomastia surgery has a very high degree of satisfaction and can often result in a remarkable physical and social transformation, especially in young men.
Dr. Perez has lectured throughout the world on various subjects in breast surgery including male breast reduction (gynecomastia) and ultrasonic lipoplasty, as well as female breast lift, augmentation and breast reduction procedures.
Selected repeatedly as one of America’s Top Doctors, Dr. Perez’ extensive international travel and teaching have kept him up-to-date on the various techniques of all types of breast surgery. He was also selected to the NOVO National Council of Leaders in Breast Aesthetics, an honor bestowed to less than 100 plastic surgeons in the entire U.S. We are often referred complex and secondary breast cases by other surgeons.
Scars are an important consideration with gynecomastia surgery, from limited ultrasonic lipoplasty scars to the more extensive conventional reduction ones. Our office is experienced in all types of procedures. Your individual needs and treatment options will be discussed thoroughly at the time of consultation.
Costs
Surgical fees vary depending upon the patient’s individual needs. The exact cost of surgery, including facility and anesthesia fees, are quoted at the time of consultation.
